6 Losses, 1 Victory

Today is the 201st birthday of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States (1861-1865) and the man who led the country through its blood-drenched Civil War.

Abraham Lincoln lost 6 political elections before he was elected President. Lincoln ran and lost as a candidate for State Legislator, US Congress (2 times), US Senate (2 times), and Vice President.

But Lincoln persevered, even after 6 political losses.

And in 1860 he was elected President of the United States. God clearly ordained this simple country lawyer to lead the nation through some of its darkest days.

James 1:2-4 (NIV) says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Is God testing your perseverance right now?

Remember the example of Abraham Lincoln.

He lost 6 elections, but then he won. Big time.

So will you.

But only if you persevere.
